Where to list and promote your Preston business

Prepare a useful local profile, make your real location clear and choose business promotion channels that fit your customers.

Give customers the useful details first

A Preston customer looking for a garage, accountant, cafe or pet service needs to know what you do, where you are and how to contact you. Lead with those details rather than a list of place names or claims that could describe any business.

Be precise about location. Fulwood, Riversway and Ribbleton are different bases, while Penwortham, Garstang and Longridge are separate communities. Explain areas served without presenting a postal address or mobile service as a walk-in city-centre branch.

Create a complete Preston Directory profile

Preston Directory accepts free Standard submissions for review. Search for your business first to avoid a duplicate, then supply its trading name, website, phone and accurate address or service area. Write an original description and select the service tags that match the work you actually offer.

Use a suitable image you have permission to publish. The email provided for managing a listing stays private unless you opt to show it publicly. Existing listings can be corrected through the owner-edit process or by contacting the directory.

Keep other profiles consistent

Google Business Profile can help eligible businesses appear with useful details on Google Search and Maps. Follow Google’s rules for verification, trading names and service areas. Keep those details aligned with your website and relevant local listings when something changes.

A trade body, specialist directory or local business network may be worthwhile when its audience matches yours. Check fees, renewals and what membership provides before paying. A directory listing or website link does not guarantee search rankings, enquiries or sales.

Find support and maintain your information

Boost Business Lancashire provides a starting point for growth and business-support information across the county. Look at current programmes and eligibility rather than assuming a scheme applies to every business. Your relevant district council may also have practical local business information.

After publication, review your listing when your phone, hours, location or services change. A current photograph and a useful description help customers decide whether to enquire. Contact us if an existing profile needs a correction or you cannot access its owner-edit route.
